Thanks to the low-cost of labor in India, many of us are not familiar with the concept of a knocked down unit. This is basically separated portions of the tabletop & the table base which can joined together on-site.

In western countries, this is a technique that has been adopted quite extensively since the components come from manufacturing hubs in the east.

In essence, a standard restaurant table has only 4 loose components

1. The Table Base – This is the bottom portion of the dining table that is also called the legs or the neck of the table, depending on the table design and the table type

2. The Table Top – The most distinct & noticeable item in a dining table, tabletops are made in reclaimed wood, solid wood, stainless steel, marble, cast iron and in a plethora of sizes, thickness, materials & designs

3. The Base Plate – The base plate is the foundation of the table, smaller restaurant table designs have only a single neck as opposed to 4 or 6 legs, so in order to increase stability a base plate with a wide span is used.

4. The Spider The spider gets its name from its shape, a claw-like structure with approximately 6 large-spanning legs to hold the tabletop in place. It is joined straight at the end of the table base
