TABLE BASES FOR RESTAURANTS

Instead of opting for a completely built table, procuring table bases and table tops separately are not only a more cost-effective option, but it also provides the restaurant owner of the cafe owner with much-needed flexibility to pair different styles of table bases and tops to achieve the desired style.

The sheer number of variations (potentially limitless) available within restaurant table bases make the selection process slightly challenging, this is why we didn’t bother with listing them all on the website. We’ve simply categorized them into different sections so you may inform us of your requirement using the contact form below.

All table bases made by FurnitureRoots are made using hospitality-grade materials. Additionally, the Q&C & material sourcing processes are done keeping restaurant, cafe, and commercial dining conditions in mind.

Top Factors to Consider When Selecting Your Table Bases:

Matching tabletops and table bases and setting them up for your restaurant is not exactly rocket science, even if you face any difficulty, your local carpenter or woodworker would know exactly how this is done. But ideally, this is best done yourself, so here are the details of the different parts of the table base

    1. THE  BASE PLATE

These are the bottom-most portion of the base and they form the very foundation of the table, restaurants, and cafes typically prefer these to be fixed or bolted to the ground to prevent it from being wobbly and moved around needlessly. Larger tables in a restaurant that is not modern or contemporary themed should opt for a wider span of the base plate for greater stability

However, fancier restaurants that aim to strike a more modern appeal may want to opt for more sleek & slender table bases.

    2. THE COLUMN

The column is also referred to as the neck of the table base, feature-rich table bases like the crankshaft in height-adjustable tables, and the kickplate in table basses are all located on the column itself. The top of the column is fixed to the tabletop using what is called “the spider” and the table

Depending on the type and style of the table chosen, the column of the table base can move vertically upwards or extend diagonally in sleeker table units.

    3. SPIDER

To effectively allow this arrangement of mix-matching table tops with different table bases or columns, the spider plays the most important role in systematically holding them both together. The spyder is placed towards the very top of the table column and looks almost like a fidget spinner, typically with 5 holes to allow for easy drilling and easy attachment with the tabletop.

Generally speaking, the larger the span of the spider, the greater its rigidity and strength to hold the tabletop and the base in one piece. Also, for non-wooden tabletops, a simple spider won’t work as marble and metal tops cannot easily be drilled into without rendering the entire tabletop useless.

Thus, as an alternative, a round piece of MDF, ply, or even a solid wood veneer is drilled into the spider before a layer of adhesive is applied to fix the spider to the tabletop effectively.
